Update: The old food court floor at the Sunrise Galleria in Tampa gave way

I was there last weekend checking out the old Orange Julius spot, and a whole section of the floor near the fountain just collapsed under me. It was just rotted plywood under the tile, looked fine from the top. I got a leg through up to my knee before catching myself. Anyone else run into hidden floor rot in these places, especially around water features?

Probably just a one-off thing, those floors are built to last. Maintenance crews check that stuff all the time, you just got unlucky.

Yeah right, tell that to my ankle. I twisted it on a loose tile at the mall last month. They "check" stuff, but they miss things all the time. My cousin slipped on a wet floor with a broken sign just last week. Built to last doesn't mean they actually last.
