That dead mall clock made me miss not checking my phone
I went back to Valley View Mall last winter, the one off Route 9 that shut down in 2019. The place is gutted, but that big clock above the food court was still running, frozen at like 2:47 or something. It got me thinking about every lunch I ate under it, mostly Sbarro slices and Orange Julius for like five bucks. I used to time my whole trip by that clock, one loop around the stores then a soda before the bus came. Now I catch myself checking my phone every two seconds, and I miss that feeling of not knowing the exact minute. Has anyone else found one tiny thing still working in a dead mall that just hits you in the gut?

Why would you want to be stuck staring at a dead clock when your phone actually tells you something useful?
