That anchor store food court everyone posts isn't from the 80s, it's from 1994
I keep seeing people share photos of the old food court at the Montgomery Mall and claiming it's from the early 80s. But I worked there from 1993 to 1996 at the Orange Julius kiosk, and that terrazzo floor and the neon wave pattern weren't installed until a full remodel in February of 94. I remember because we had to stay open during construction and the dust was awful. Has anyone else noticed dates getting mixed up in these posts, or am I just being too picky about the details?

Yellow tile terrazzo with that specific wave pattern you're talking about. 1994 sounds right because I managed a store in that mall from 95 to 98 and the floor was still pretty new looking when I started. People love to claim everything retro is from the 80s even when it was clearly a 90s design trend. Best way to settle the argument is to pull the mall's old tax records or newspaper archive from the county library online. Ours listed the renovation cost and completion date right in the business section.

So you're saying I can settle a 20 year old argument by digging through county tax records? That's almost too easy, and way less fun than just yelling at each other about it. Thanks for the tip though, @zara_miller, you might have just saved some friendships.
