My dad mentioned the old food court at the Valley View Center and it got me thinking

We were cleaning out his garage last weekend and he pointed to an old photo of us eating pizza there in 1995. He said, 'That place felt like the center of the world back then, now it's just empty hallways.' It made me wonder, what's the most vivid memory you've had sparked by visiting a mall from your childhood?

Oh man, that hit me right in the feels... My old mall had this huge fountain that's long gone now. Seeing the empty spot where it used to be brought back the whole sound of rushing water and the smell of chlorine. It's wild how a place can hold so much of your past.

Yeah, that smell of chlorine really does it.

Did it ever bother anyone else that chlorine smell was so strong? I used to think it was just kinda gross, like a public pool that hadn't aired out. But reading your post made me realize how much that smell actually tied into the whole experience... the cool tile floors, the echo of voices, the way the fountain spray would catch the light. Now I'm thinking about it differently, like maybe it was part of the magic, not a downside.
