Just realized I was walking through malls the wrong way, a ceiling tile gave it away
I spent 11 trips to the old Granite Run Mall in Delaware County ignoring the second floor skylight pattern until I saw some kid staring up and it hit me that the food court fountain was actually aligned with the old anchor store's ramp, and now I map every abandoned spot by its skylights first, has anyone else found a hidden layout clue like that?

Man, that's wild. I once spent twenty minutes wandering a dead Sears looking for the escalator, only to realize I was circling the same mannequin display that was basically a mirror image on both sides of the store. My brain finally clued in when I noticed the floor tiles changed color near the real exit. My wife still brings it up as the time I got lost in a box of coats. Honestly, my sense of direction is so bad I could probably use a skylight map just to find my car in a normal parking lot.
