I always brought a friend for safety, but my last solo mall walk taught me to trust my own gut more.

Seriously, baker.thomas? Your friend spotted a creep your gut completely missed? @parkernelson is right, guts are more about food court calls than safety checks.

Yeah baker.thomas, my gut is mostly busy telling me about the questionable food court sushi... not spotting mirroring creeps. It's a solid backup plan unless your only stress is choosing between soft pretzels. My solo mall walk gut feeling was just hunger for Cinnabon. Guess I'll trust it to pick a snack and keep a friend around to point out the guy copying my path to the cookie stand.

At Westgate Mall last week, my friend saw a creep tailing us that my gut never noticed. I felt fine, but she pointed out how he mirrored our stops. Relying only on your gut is a gamble because stress or noise can mess with your instincts. A friend adds real time backup that intuition can't match. Skipping that backup for a solo feel good moment seems reckless to me.
