Found a hidden corridor in the old Westgate Mall last month

Ngl, I've been exploring abandoned malls for about 2 years now and never found anything like this. The trick was checking behind a collapsed hot dog kiosk near the food court on the second floor. There was a service door painted to match the wall, and it led to a whole hallway of old storage rooms with 1990s P.A. equipment still plugged in. Has anyone else stumbled onto a hidden room or hallway in a dead mall?

I mean, what gets me about these hidden spots is nobody ever thinks about the audio equipment. Like, those old P.A. systems were basically the mall's nervous system, right? Back in the '90s they probably had those tape loops that played the same soft rock and cheesy "lost child" announcements every day. I bet there's a whole forgotten archive of old tapes in there somewhere, maybe even one that still has the original "Nordstrom is having a shoe sale" recording from 1994. That kind of stuff is way more interesting to me than just finding another empty storefront.

I used to think the same way as you, actually. I was always focused on finding cool old stores or weird architecture. But after I found that hallway with the P.A. stuff, it completely changed how I see these places. Standing in a room with a stack of tape players that probably haven't been touched since 1995, I realized those machines are like the mall's brain. The idea that there might be a box of old tapes with daily announcements from the '90s is pretty wild. Now when I go into a dead mall, I'm more interested in the bones of the place than the storefronts.
