Found a fully stocked but abandoned arcade in the old Sunrise Mall food court
I was poking around the old Sunrise Mall in Citrus Heights last weekend, and the whole food court is just empty tables and broken signs now. But in the back corner, behind a ripped curtain, there was this whole arcade with maybe 15 games still plugged in and lit up, like someone just walked out. It was super quiet except for the hum of the machines. Do you think places like that should be left exactly as they are, or is it okay to take a small souvenir if it's clearly going to get trashed anyway?

Leave it alone. Taking stuff just makes you part of the problem, even if it feels harmless. The vibe is in it being untouched.

That place is private property, not a free museum. Taking something is still theft, even if it looks forgotten. It's a slippery slope from a small souvenir to real damage.

Yeah "the vibe is in it being untouched" hits it perfectly. I found this old drive-in theater out in the middle of nowhere a couple years back, projector room was still open with film canisters stacked up. Felt like some time capsule. I get the urge to grab something small, but honestly the best part was just sitting there imagining what it was like packed with cars and people. Once you start picking at stuff, the whole magic of finding it untouched just disappears. Leave it be and let someone else get that same feeling of discovery.
