Changed my mind about dead malls after a random Reddit thread

I used to think abandoned malls were just sad places, but someone posted on here about how their local dead mall was repurposed into a community college campus. They said the old food court became the student lounge with the original neon signs still up. Has anyone else seen a mall get a second life like that?

Wait, they actually kept the 1980s neon food court signs up for a classroom building?

The food court turned student lounge with original neon still up is such a smart move! My local dead mall got turned into a mix of office space and a small indoor skate park, they kept the old tile floor patterns and even left the fountain dry but decorated it with plants. It's wild how those old mall structures have such solid bones, the wide hallways make perfect hallways for classrooms or cubicles. Plus the big atrium areas are great for setting up little shops or cafes without needing to build new walls. I think more towns should look at dead malls that way instead of just tearing them down.
