Appreciation post: I snuck into the dead Chesterfield Mall in St. Louis with just a phone flashlight
Me and my buddy went in through a loose loading dock door at the old Chesterfield Mall outside St. Louis back in 2019, and I figured my phone light would be plenty for a quick walk through the food court. It turns out those long dead hallways eat up light fast, and we ended up feeling our way along the walls for 40 minutes before we found the same door again, way more scared than when we walked in. What do you all pack for light when you explore a place that size?
Man, hate to say it but 2019 was not the last time anyone walked that mall. Chesterfield didn't actually close until 2022, so you and your buddy were poking around a place that still had a few stores and mall walkers in it. I get the confusion though, parts of that place felt dead way before it really died. The food court had been a ghost town since like 2015. So yeah, scary, but not quite as abandoned as you thought. Still a solid story, just wanted to set the record straight.
