$20 respirator saved my lungs at the Winchester Mall demo
Honestly I was about to cheap out and just use a dust mask when I went to check out the old Winchester Mall before it got torn down. Ngl the asbestos risk is real in those places built in the 70s. I grabbed a proper P100 respirator for like 20 bucks at the hardware store and turned out the ceiling tiles were falling apart everywhere. Has anyone else had close calls with bad air in these old buildings?

Man that part about the ceiling tiles falling apart hit home hard. I had a similar scare last year when I was poking around an old warehouse from the 60s and didn't think much about the dust until I saw the insulation just crumbling in the rafters. A cheap P100 from the local store probably kept me from breathing in some nasty stuff too, did you double check for mold spores while you were in there?

It's funny how we just assume old buildings are safe until something flakes apart right in front of us, really makes you wonder what else is silently crumbling away in these places. For sure @william320, I didn't get a chance to test for mold but I held my breath the whole time just in case, you never know what's been growing in there for decades without anyone checking.
